How old is your child?

Savannah (mom): 3 years old

Tell us all about the planning for the birthday party!

Savannah: Honestly, we have been planning for this party, well, a ballerina themed party, since we found out she was a girl! My mom (Kathy of Romance & Rust) even found the cake topper soon after her first birthday and kept it in safe keeping until her third birthday.

What was the theme for the birthday party? Did you choose it or did your child?

Savannah: The theme for her 3rd birthday party was “Brookelynn’s Ballerina Tea Party”. Like I mentioned, we had been planning this theme for quite some time. Thankfully, Brookelynn loves ballet! She has been in dance for over a year, and when we asked her if she would like to have a ballerina themed party, she loved the idea! A lot of the decor that we used was items from her bedroom decor and some of her dance class photos.

Did you do a cake smash? What was the cake flavor and what did your child do when you presented her with the cake?

Kathy of Romance & Rust: The dessert bar consisted of the prettiest ballerina cake with a personalized cake topper, adorable cookies, powered sugar and pink sprinkled donuts, as well as ballerina slipper suckers.

Were there any games or activities at the party?

Savannah: We created “Brookelynn’s Dance Studio” where guests could choose a tutu to wear during the party. The party took place during the brunch hour, so we served all of Brookelynn’s favorite breakfast foods including donuts, yogurt parfaits, a variety of muffins, crispy bacon, fluffy biscuits with assorted jellies and amazing chocolate gravy made by The Bakery Box. The table for the little guests was set “Tea Party” style. They loved it!

Did your child receive any gifts that were special to her?

Savannah: I think her favorite gift was one that she actually got to pick out herself. It was her ballerina outfit for her dance class for the coming year. This was also the outfit she chose to wear during her party.

What are some fun memories you’ve had of your child at this age?

Savannah: This was her first year of dance , going to “school”, and becoming a big sister. She went from being a baby to a little girl.

What are you looking forward to in this next year of their life?

Savannah: Watching her continue to grow and continue in these roles, and develop other interests. She loves taking care of her little sister, so watching her being such a good Big Sister makes my heart happy and proud.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about the birthday?

Kathy of Romance & Rust: We love incorporating themes for birthday parties that reflect the personality of the child. It makes it that much more special to bring in personalized items as well.
