In a custom blue jumper surrounded by balloons of green and blue and the love of mom and dad, little Jackson had his first birthday cake smash photo session. Parents Elizabeth and Ed had Maria Gloer Photography capture the exciting milestone since she also captured the little one year old when he was just a little guy growing inside his mama’s belly. From his smiles and his curiosity to the happiness of him enjoying his blue donut cake made by Baked in Nashville, this is one adorable photo session that you’re going to love!
From the photographer: I had the honor of photographing Jackson’s family since he was still a tiny baby growing inside his mom. He was a rockstar for his newborn session and all of his milestone sessions. It’s so sweet to look back at these photos and see how much he’s grown. To watch him take his very first steps in my studio during his one year session was truly special.
I couldn’t be happier to celebrate his one year birthday with a lovely cake smash at the studio! He was a busy bee crawling all around the studio, but as soon as he saw the balloons and the Donut cake from Baked in Nashville – which he enjoyed throughly – he was all smiles for me. We giggled the entire time watching him devour his little cake.

Elizabeth: Jackson turned one!
Why did you decide to do a photo session now?
Elizabeth: I had been looking forward to Jackson’s cake smash photo session ever since he was born. Is there anything cuter than a baby eating cake for the first time?
What was your vision for the session?
Elizabeth: I wanted to keep it really simple so that Jackson and the cake would be the focus of the photos. Jackson had a ‘donut grow up’ themed party the day before, so I carried that theme into this session with his smash cake made by Baked in Nashville.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Elizabeth: We love working with Maria and have had her capture all of our special moments with Jackson — including maternity, newborn, and several milestone session. The walls of our house are full of Maria’s beautiful photographs. She is super easy to work with, has great style, and has a beautiful studio.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your session?
Elizabeth: This session was extra special because Jackson took his first steps! Maria took some great pictures of him walking so that we can cherish that moment forever.
