When you have an adorable four year old, two cute pups and one beautiful family, having an in-home family session is a must! The McRae family welcomed Elle Jackson Photography into their home to capture the simple moments and the outcome is flawless! Tell us about your family.
Michelle: I am a Jersey girl and my hubby is a sweet Southern boy. We moved to East Nashville ten years ago and it’s been home ever since. Our four-year-old daughter, Zena, is the light of our lives. She is love and kindness personified with the strength of a soldier and the heart of an angel. Our home is never quiet, rarely clean, but always filled with love. Capturing our family last spring meant the world to us as we knew our time was limited with our black lab, Maddie, whom we lost shortly after the shoot. We will treasure our photos forever.
Why did you decide to do the shoot now?
Michelle: Elizabeth is the Nashville family photographer. I think I had reached out to her because I was referring her to guests visiting from out of town and, in our conversation, I realized I had no excuse to not have my own family photos taken. I am so grateful I did. We lost my dog shortly after the shoot and I will forever cherish the photos she took of my family.
What was the concept for your shoot? What was your vision?
Michelle: I didn’t really have a concept or a vision. I just wanted to capture my family. Elizabeth knew exactly where and how to shoot the photos.
How did your kids react during the photo shoot?
Michelle: My four-year old was a total ham, but Elizabeth is so talented, she was able to capture her perfectly. Moms rarely get pictures of themselves with their children. Having a photographer who is also a mom is such a gift. I truly believe Elizabeth has a gift most don’t have, in part because she is a mom herself.
Were there any challenges along the way?
Michelle: Honestly, Elizabeth is so good at what she does, she made everything about the shoot seamless.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Michelle: Easy. Everything about working with Elizabeth was easy. From the minute she walks in your door, you’ll feel like you’ve been best friends your entire life. But she’s so good at what she does, she just makes it easy and fun. She’s a mom herself and that makes all the difference in the world when it comes to capturing kids.
