This Once Upon a Time extravaganza was a pink-filled paradise, perfect for a princess like Brookelynn who adores the timeless elegance of Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. The outdoor space was transformed into a whimsical wonderland, complete with a charming picnic setup adorned with delicate pink linens and an abundance of roses. As Brookelynn’s favorite princess, Aurora, she was the epitome of grace and beauty in her royal attire. But the true highlight of the day came when the Princess herself made a special appearance, bringing joy and excitement to Brookelynn’s eyes and making her birthday even more unforgettable. No fairy tale celebration would be complete without a decadent feast fit for royalty. The pièce de résistance? An incredible princess cake that stole the show, adorned with intricate details and surrounded by delectable cookies and cupcakes. Tell us all about the planning for the birthday party!
From Savannah, Mom: Planning always takes a few months. We knew we wanted a lot of detail and quite the extravagant party since Brookelynn was turning 5 this year! We used her Disney Princess castle as the main decor piece on the cake table with Disney Princess Barbies all about. We had a beautiful cake, cupcakes and cookies. Party favors were Disney golden books tied with pink ribbon. One of the main elements of the party was the beautiful picnic setup by R&R Picnics, a branch of Romance & Rust Weddings and Events, under a tent that was set up in the back yard. The little guests loved enjoying their picnic lunch of pizza! Princess Aurora made a surprise visit and all the little girls absolutely loved her! Of course, Brookelynn was dressed like Aurora (her favorite princess) and all the other girls were encouraged to dress up like their favorite princess too, which most did. After Aurora left the party, everyone enjoyed a bounce house and some pool time!
What was the theme for the birthday party? Did you choose it or did your child?
Savannah: Brookelynn loves all Disney princesses and she chose to have a Disney princess “Once Upon a Time” birthday party. Her favorite Disney princess is Aurora, therefore she dressed up just like her.
What was the cake flavor and what did your child do when you presented her with the cake?
Savannah: The cake by Southern Charm Bakery was absolutely beautiful! It was a 2 tiered cake with a princess crown on top that we have had since she was a baby. The bottom layer had the bodice of all her favorite princesses complete with fondant dresses cascading to the bottom of the cake. It also had her name written beautifully in cursive and the topper was a gold Disney castle. It was quite the extravagant cake! We also had really cute vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with different Disney princesses as cupcake toppers. Adorable cookies by Brooke Fitzgerald were in the shape of crowns, bows, carriages, and some written with “Princess Brookelynn” and “Once Upon a Time” , all in pink and white with gold accents.
Did your child receive any gifts that were special to her?
Savannah: She received her Aurora dress and all of her accessories for her to wear to the party. She also received her very first big girl bike, which of course it was Disney Princess themed.
What are some fun memories you’ve had of your child at this age?
Savannah: Brookelynn loved her last year of Pre K. It was so bittersweet to see her graduate and be ready to head off the kindergarten. She had a wonderful first full year of gymnastics and loved her 3rd year of dance. We also had the best vacation as a family this year right after Christmas in Gatlinburg and made so many wonderful magical memories together.
What are you looking forward to in this next year of their life?
Savannah: We are looking forward to Kindergarten and watching her learn and thrive and make new friends. She is so excited for another year full of gymnastics and multiple dance classes.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about the birthday?
Savannah: We invited Princess Aurora to come to her birthday party and I don’t think Brookelynn will ever forget it. She was absolutely the highlight of the whole party and she made the day so magical. I would recommend her over and over again!
