Tell us about Piece of Mind Events! How long have you been in business?

Sharde: Piece of Mind Events has been in business for over 2 years now! My love for children’s birthday parties blossomed into a love of all things events! Our company is full service, but we also offer a la carte services as well as day of facilitation.

What made you want to work with parents/families/kids/babies?

Sharde: I am a mother of 4 so I understand wanting to celebrate every single milestone. Time goes by so fast and if I can slow it down for a parent to actually celebrate their journey, I will! With each year, parents are giving their all to kids, from working late to putting their needs first.

What is the philosophy behind Piece of Mind Events?

Sharde: I have over 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry and being of service to people has been my entire career. I love meeting new people and being able to give my client’s relief. That is where the name came from. My company allows clients to let me take one thing out of their busy world and handle it so they don’t have to. I have met so many parents who plan events and can’t wait for it to be over because of how stressful the planning process can be. Even at birthday parties, the mom is running around trying to host and missing out on the memories being created. It’s exhausting to plan every single thing. My philosophy is that I allow my clients to be the guest at their own events.

What are your strengths compared to others in your category?

Sharde: I am detail oriented and I know how to listen to my clients. If it is important to them, it is important to me. I also love being creative. Events should be an experience, from beginning to end. Sometimes companies focus heavily on the decorations, but neglect the guest experience. I would say that I am all encompassing and every element is an opportunity to make it unforgettable. Before I started my company, I tried to learn as much as I could. So, I enrolled in Belmont’s Meeting and Event Planning course to get a true background on the field. This experience allowed me to build relationships with vendors in Nashville even before I opened my company. I continue to grow each day as it is so important to know what your client’s needs are as well as what is trending.

What attracts parents to work with you?

Sharde: I think what attracts clients to me is that I am flexible. Having four kids, I quickly learned that each kid has their own way of learning and growing. I have to be flexible in meeting each one of their individual needs. This translates well into my professional world because every client is different too. Being able to see their vision and bring it to life is something I take pride in and I treat each event as if it were my own. I take my time to over communicate and will go the extra mile without being asked to.

What are some cool new and innovative trends you’ve seen in your area of expertise?

Sharde: Right now with the Coronavirus, everyone is at home. What is missing right now more than ever is connection. People just want to see each other’s faces and it’s amazing how much we all really need each other on every level. In my particular field of event planning, this new way of life has completely halted every opportunity to connect. So I knew that I would have to do something to help people focus on what matters most and bring back that connection to people as best as I could. The birthday boxes allow families to still make memories with their loved ones within the comforts of their homes. The core of any celebration is not about the fancy venue or the food, but it’s about the people who create those moments with. Today, you can still do that right at home. The virtual birthday parties give people an outlet to connect also. This option gives grandparents an opportunity to see your kids blow out their 3rd birthday candles. Maybe even see your classmates sing Happy Birthday to you. Now more than ever, it’s important to keep celebrating and keep loving each other while the world is full of unknowns.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about Piece of Mind Events?

Sharde: I would add that I have a range of services, from baby showers to bridal showers. I also host events that are moms only and that specialize in self care. They don’t provide child care and are completely child free to promote the idea that moms need time for themselves. Check out my website for the wonderful things we are into! I also donate reading parties to nonprofit organizations as literacy is such a fundamental lifelong skill.

We love that Sharde offers services that truly allow guests to experience their own events and be in the moment! If that sounds like something you’d love for your next celebration, check out Piece of Mind Events and follow along on her Instagram!
