What made you want to work with families?
Nakishia: I discovered my passion for working with parents, families, and babies at a young age and it was further solidified during my time as a newborn hearing specialist. Experiencing the love and connection between mothers and babies can be a profound and transformative. I have worked in the medical field for 9 years and that has provided me with a broader understanding of birth and newborn care. This newfound knowledge fueled my desire to educate and support mothers and families in the birthing and postpartum journey. Wanting to empower and educate parents and families on birth and newborn care is a valuable aspiration. Many parents can benefit greatly from guidance and knowledge as they navigate the transformative experience of welcoming a new baby into their lives. By focusing on providing education and support, I am helping parents feel more confident and equipped to care for their newborns. This can lead to healthier and happier outcomes for both parents and babies
