Tell us about your business! How long have you been in business?
Dusty: The Photo Machine is a super-awesome, super-groovy mobile photo booth in Nashville, TN. I am a TN native and fell in love with the ‘camper-turned-photobooth’ idea several years ago and worked to create one different from all the rest. It’s been a labor of love, and the end result is The Photo Machine. My goal is to help make your child’s event as unforgettable for your guests as it will be for you.
What made you want to work with parents/families/kids/babies?
Dusty: I think of myself as a big kid, and that was a major factor in choosing the retro theme of The Photo Machine. Since I love kids, it’s always been just as important to me to do family events and kid’s parties as it is to do weddings.
What is the philosophy behind The Photo Machine?
Dusty: The Photo Machine is all about being FUN, RETRO, and WHIMSICAL, and loves any reason to celebrate! Leave the silly and carefree photos to me as your guests laugh, pose, and create memories that will last forever. I discovered at kids’ events that this selection of silly props is always a BIG hit.
What are your strengths compared to other photo booth companies?
Dusty: I don’t like to bog a client down with lots of different package options and too many add-on services. My package options are simple and streamlined, giving the parents time to focus on other details.
What attracts parents to work with you?
Dusty: The parents that are most attracted to The Photo Machine want a party rental that is self-sufficient, and requires no supervision on their part. I need a level surface near an outlet to plug into. After that, the parents have nothing to worry about. Plus, they appreciate a sense of humor and nostalgia, and want their guests to leave with great memories.
What are some cool new and innovative trends you’ve seen in your area of expertise?
Dusty: Everyone wants those frame-worthy images, and The Photo Machine provides the parents just that. After the party is over, I send the client a link to a gallery of all captures taken…good, bad, and ugly! This ensures the parental units haven’t missed out on those special (and often hilarious) moments. Remember, the state of the art camera setup within The Photo Machine creates photos, boomerangs, and GIFs. Text, email, or share on social media in real time for a flood of Instagram-worthy captures! Plus, we also provide printed photos for a tangible takeaway for your guests.
