Sophie’s Sweet Floral Newborn Session by Becka Edmonson Photography

Oh the sweetness that is Sophie! I am so excited to share my dear friend and fellow blogger Courtney Brown‘s Nashville newborn session with her daughter Sophie today! Sophie has to be one of the sweetest and most beautiful babies I’ve met and I’m so excited for our kids to grow up together and play. Courtney had an idea to surround Sophie with flowers for the session and our other dear friend and Nashville newborn photographer, Becka Edmonson captured these sweet moments with this fresh new babe. Check out our interview with Courtney and see all the beauty that is baby Sophie below!

Tell us about Sophie!

Courtney: Sophie is such a sweetheart! She was born the end of October and has been the most amazing gift ever. She can be a real chatterbox and in the past few weeks has started rolling over and grabbing for things. It’s been so much fun to watch her develop and grow. I can’t believe she is almost 5 months old! The time has flown by.

How was your pregnancy?

Courtney: My pregnancy was overall very easy! I was fortunate to not struggle with morning sickness or complications. Pregnancy was something I was not looking forward to, I think due to fear of the unknown, but ended up really enjoying it and am so thankful I was able to experience it.

Tell us about Sophie’s birth!

Courtney: I was induced at 39 weeks and had an easy labor and delivery. We got to the hospital at 8am, I was induced at noon and by 7:30pm we were holding our little girl. Once my contractions started it all went fairly quickly! Sophie came out healthy and strong, and it was so surreal holding her for the first time. Both sets of our families live out of state, but somehow everyone made it to town just in time and were able to celebrate with us in the hospital. Everything couldn’t have gone better!

How have you been doing since Sophie came into your life?

Courtney: We’ve been doing great! Sophie’s been a very easy baby – starting sleeping through the night at 2 months, eats well and has a happy, sweet spirit. We’ve joked that we should probably stop at one child since there’s no way we’ll get this easy of a baby again! The transition from a family of two to a family of three has obviously been a big change, but it’s been easier than I anticipated it being, which has been a welcomed surprise. She has changed our lives in the best possible way and we already can’t imagine life without her!

Did you have a vision for the newborn session?

Courtney: I did! I wanted them to be light and airy with a feminine/romantic look, and I had seen some photographs online of babies wearing floral crowns that I loved. They inspired me to do a similar look but with Sophie encircled by a floral wreath instead. My mom was in town visiting so she made the wreath and FLWR Shop Nashville made the little crown. I really love how they turned out!

What was it like working with Becka Edmonson Photography?

Courtney: Becka was fantastic to work with! I gave her an idea in advance what I hope the photos would look like and she made it a reality. She came to our house and kept the session under two hours, making it as easy on us and Sophie as possible. Plus, she is an absolute baby whisperer! She was so patient with Sophie and managed to get her to pose just right. I have no idea how she did it!

Courtney! Thanks so much for sharing sweet baby Sophie’s newborn session with us! You can also check out Courtney’s blog By Courtney Brown and find more on Becka Edmonson Photography here!
