Tell us about your business! How long have you been in business?
Laurie: I began designing wedding invitations for friends and eventually got my business license in 2011, but I didn’t actively build the business up until 2016 when I realized I wanted to eventually go full time with Fanciful Ink. I finally took the full time leap in 2017 and embraced more than just wedding invitations. I create any design that individuals and businesses need! However, invitations are still my love!
What made you want to work with parents/families/kids/babies?
Laurie: The natural progression of creating wedding invitations led to creating baby shower invitations and baby announcements! I love being a part of a couple’s wedding day, but I love even more journeying with them beyond that one day. It’s fun to see the progression of their lives and is a great way to keep in touch with clients.
What is the philosophy behind your company?
Laurie: Artistry is important to me. I create my own drawings and designs, never using stock designs. I create something that I believe is special for someone. It does come from a special place in my heart, I love creating something for someone. I always hope that it is special for my clients because they are special to me.
What are your strengths compared to others in your category?
Laurie: I think my strength is my style, just like it is with others in my category – each one of us has our own unique style and that is important.
What attracts parents to work with you?
Laurie: They are taken care of throughout the design. They don’t have to spend time browsing online templates and can spend that precious time with their children, allowing me to create something for them that is a reflection of their family.
What are some cool new and innovative trends you’ve seen in your area of expertise?
Laurie: I LOVE illustrating families, and I am seeing more of that trend pop up. It is such a fun alternative to a photo!
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your business?
Laurie: I designed the Nashville Baby Guide logo!
