Tell us about Jamie Hunt Photography! How long have you been in business?
Jamie: I have been in business for 6 years now and am still growing and learning!
What made you want to work with parents/families/kids/babies?
Jamie: I used to be a teacher so I have always adored children! I honestly LOVE capturing the special connection each person in the family has with another. There are so many monumental moments that I get to photograph and be a part of and it has been such an honor for families to let me into their lives. I started photographing newborn because I was fascinated with all the poses and it quickly became one of my favorite things to photograph. I think capturing the essence behind a newborn and the sweetness of every detail along with the enchantment they bring to new parents is such a precious memory. I also am passionate about families and really creating authentic moments that elicit great emotion and provide images that not only show each person, but the interactions that happen!
What is the philosophy behind Jamie Hunt Photography?
Jamie: I like to shoot both lifestyle and part posed. I capture honest moments that come from cues and prompts I give families. I always get plenty of “looking at the camera” pictures but really focus on interactions between people. I will give simple cues that will create authentic moments and memories that make the photo session an experience in itself.
What are your strengths compared to other photographers?
Jamie: I think my strengths are making families feel comfortable and making the session enjoyable. I always “go with the flow” when it comes to littles but have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to create those authentic moments and smiles. When photographing newborns, I want the parents to feel like they can “take a break”. I know those first few weeks are exhausting, and I want to make sure our session is as laid back as possible – I incorporate both posed (baskets and wrapped) and natural photos (in parents arms, on bed, in crib) for newborns.
What attracts parents to work with you?
Jamie: I think parents like my editing style which is a deeper, richer, warm edit as well as how I make them feel in the session all while capturing those authentic moments – and of course how easy it all is!
What are some cool new and innovative trends you’ve seen in photography lately?
Jamie: Recently I’ve seen “client closets” and “client styling” become more and more desirable. I have also started to incorporate this into each and every one of my sessions. I create collections of outfits for each person in the session and collaborate with clients to ensure we have the best look for our portraits!
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your business?
Jamie: I just love everything about what I do. I love meeting each new client and I love growing with families through all the new additions! I feel like I really become part of the family!
