Needless to say, their dreamy maternity session from Jamie Hunt Photography not only documented the special moments, but did so with such beauty and ease. In a lace adorned gown complete with a flower crown Courtney posed with her beautiful bump, husband, and even their precious dog. Take a scroll through these calming images through such an exciting time!

Tell us about you guys as a couple/family!

Courtney: Hi! My husband and I met in 2012 while we were attending dental school at Indiana University. After dental school we wanted to leave the chilly midwest and decided Nashville was where we wanted to start the next chapter of our lives. We got married August 25th, 2018. When we’re not working in our dental practices we enjoy fitness and spending time outdoors. We love taking our dog, Rayne, on hikes, trips to breweries and adventures alike.

How did you announce you were pregnant to your family/friends?

Courtney: We really wanted to tell our families the good news in person. My family lives in Chicago and Phil’s family lives in Indianapolis. Early March I was supposed to be competing in a weightlifting meet but it was cancelled on account of Covid. We decided to use that weekend to travel to visit our families and share the news. Fortunately we went when we did because the Coronavirus spread drastically shortly after and we wouldn’t have been able to travel any longer. We used onsies that said “Surprise! You’re going to be Grandparents!” to tell our parents. Their reactions were priceless! We gave our 4 brothers koozies that defined “Funcle” and it was very fun for them to realize they would be uncles.

How has your family reacted to your pregnancy?

Courtney: Our families couldn’t be more excited! This will be the first grandchild for both families. We did a gender reveal over Father’s Day. We wanted it to be special and highlight how important our fathers are to us so we asked our dads set off confetti poppers revealing the news to us and the rest of the family. We were all surprised and excited to find out the baby is GIRL! Phil has 1 brother and I have 3 brothers, so girls are on short supply. I think this has made everyone even more excited.

How has your pregnancy been so far?

Courtney: Pregnancy has been really great! I am surprised by how much I have enjoyed it. As a competitive athlete/weightlifter I needed to make a lot of changes to training and diet, but it has been exciting to transition out of programmed training and into fitness for fun. I was worried about how I would mentally handle my changing body. For most of my adult life fitness and nutrition have played a large roll and it was scary that both would be out of my control. As it turns out, I love the changes and embracing what the female body is capable of! As an athlete you push your body to its limits often, but I have never appreciated what our bodies can do more than I do now! Believe it or not, first trimester was my favorite! I didn’t have any morning sickness or significant fatigue. Because of Covid, I was only seeing patients a few days a week. That gave me more time to relax, exercise, and adjust to the changes. I had my first OB appointment and ultrasound at 11.5 weeks which really allowed the reality of pregnancy set in. And then all of a sudden first trimester was over! Second trimester was the longest by far! Or at least that’s how it felt. Not too much changed other than a little more fatigue going back to work full time. Having our anatomy scan and finding out the gender was definitely the most exciting part! Around 20 weeks was the first time I felt the baby kick and that was thrilling. This is also when I started to develop a bump and was pumped to show it off! Third trimester brought more changes. Daily tasks became more difficult as the belly continued to grow. I actually had a few patients notice that the baby kicked them in the head during a dental procedure! The most difficult part of third trimester is the waiting game. I am currently 3 days from my due date and knowing we get to meet our babygirl any day now is so crazy and emotional!

How far along are you in the maternity photos?

Courtney: 33 weeks

How did you come up with your concept/location for your photos?

Courtney: That was all Jamie Hunt! She is brilliant and I trusted her to pick the location and guide me through the shoot. She did an amazing job!

What was it like during the shoot working with the photographer?

Courtney: I absolutely loved working with Jamie! I am not very comfortable in front of the camera and she did an amazing job guiding my husband and I through the photo shoot. She came prepared with props, ideas, and a vision. Without her guidance the photos would not have turned out the way they did. She truly is brilliant and executed her vision perfectly!

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your maternity shoot?

Courtney: Nope, just that I cannot wait to do our newborn photos with her soon!

Congratulations Courtney and Phil! Thanks so much for sharing your dreamy maternity session by Jamie Hunt Photography with us! If you’re looking for a maternity photographer, be sure to check out more of Jamie’s work HERE!
