Katie’s Boho, Floral Maternity Session by Wilde Company

Holy wow – I am over the moon about Katie’s maternity photos by Wilde Company today! Katie + her husband Jason’s earthy vibes and love for nature come across perfectly in their maternity photo session. Their well-traveled lifestyle will now have a new travel partner – their soon to be daughter. I cannot get enough of these moody vibes and double exposures! Buckle up because this one is a good one!

Tell us about you guys as a couple/family!

Katie: We have been together for almost 11 years and married for almost seven. We both love history, antiques, and traveling; which we did a lot of traveling prior to parenthood. Now we look forward to planning trips with our daughter. We love to even take day trips to new places as a family. We find it’s a good way to satisfy our adventurous side and start introducing our little one to new places and things.

What was the moment like when you found out you were pregnant?

Katie: Right before Thanksgiving, when I suspected I may be pregnant, my husband made a grocery run and picked up a pregnancy test as well. As soon as he got home, I took the test and it was positive. We were immediately excited for our next adventure.

How did you announce you were pregnant to your family/friends?

Katie: We formally told our immediate family members and close friends shortly after I had my first doctor’s visit to confirm my pregnancy. Once I was past the first trimester, we made a social media announcement.

How has your family reacted to your pregnancy?

Katie: They were elated. My husband and I had talked about children but did not formally plan. I think everyone was surprised as we were always an adventurous couple and most likely assumed we put parenthood on the shelf. So many were surprised which then turned to excitement.

How has your pregnancy been so far?

Katie: My pregnancy went well. Not until the last 8 to 7 weeks did I feel some of the uncomfortableness. And that was mostly because we were heading into the middle of summer in Tennessee. Lots of swelling in my feet towards those last few weeks. Overall, my pregnancy was easy. I did not experience really much nausea. It honestly just made me listen to my body more, which is a natural thing I do, and understand that every woman’s experience with pregnancy is different and their own. Everyone’s body reacts different to everything.

How far along are you in the maternity photos?

Katie: I was just a little past 7 months in my maternity photos.

How did you come up with your concept/location for your photos?

Katie: I knew I wanted something outdoors and with nature. I LOVE nature. I went to college in the Appalachian mountains and believe the outdoors is truly a part of who I am. Amy is a close friend and understands who I am. So when I told her my location idea, she had the perfect place in mind. I was so happy with the photoshoot location. For my look, I just wanted something natural and ethereal. This concept was definitely brought to fruition when we shot in a field with fireflies around me. Amy and Chuck really incorporated everything I could have thought of, and more, to document this special moment.

What was it like during the shoot working with the photographer?

Katie: Amy and Chuck are close friends of ours. So it’s always a good time anytime we are with them. But, if we did not know them and my maternity photoshoot was the first time we met them, I know we would have been instant friends. Amy and Chuck are not only very talented in their profession, they are really kind people with the best sense of humor. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying their company.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your maternity shoot?

Katie: Amy and Chuck of Wilde Company are hard-working and very fun people to be around. They made my photoshoot fun and also took the stress off of having to come up with ideas for poses and certain shots. When you’re preparing for something big, like parenthood, it is extremely helpful to hire professionals like Amy and Chuck to take care of documenting that special time in your life. I believe photography is very special and you should cherish family photos. Amy and Chuck provided us with one of the most cherished things I have; my maternity photos.

Katie – thank you so much for sharing your incredible story of motherhood with us! Your maternity photos from Wilde Company are absolutely stunning and I’m so happy you all shared them with us today!
