For James and Val, they kept the gender of their baby a surprise so when Miles entered the world they naturally fell in love with their precious baby boy. Tell us all about your new baby!
Val: Our sweet little boy made his debut on February 25th weighing in at 6lbs 7oz and 19.5” long. His name is Miles James and he has made his mom and dad the luckiest!
How was your pregnancy?
Val: My pregnancy overall was great! I did have quite the time with morning sickness for the first 20 weeks. After I got through that, things went fairly smooth! I really didn’t realize until after I had him how much I enjoyed being pregnant. All the sickness, aches and pains, and sleepless nights were so worth it!
Tell us about his/her birth!
Val: I had a scheduled induction at St. Thomas Midtown the morning of the 25th. It was a very peaceful day and I had the best support around me. My husband and sister were there in the room with me the whole time. I was grateful to have such an amazing team of family and doctors and nurses. We also didn’t find out what we were having ahead of time so when he made his entrance we were absolutely THRILLED! We truly had a great experience.
How have you been doing since he came into your life?
Val: The first couple of weeks were definitely tough being first time parents and not really having any sort of grid for it all. I would say it’s so important to have the right kind of support postpartum if you can, so that you can really lean on others during that time and feel like you can reach for help. We were very fortunate to have that which made all the difference. We are now 4 weeks out and doing so great! Finally feel like we are finding a rhythm and are just so in love with our sweet boy.
Did you have a vision for the newborn session?
Val: Honestly, I just wanted Meghan to come and do her thing. I’ve been following her for years and love all that I’ve seen. I knew she would be able to capture those lifestyle moments so beautifully. I couldn’t have asked for better photos.
What was it like working with Meghan Melia Photography?
Val: She is a literal dream. I would recommend her to everyone! She truly has a gift and is the kindest soul. She brings so much light and joy into the room that you feel so seen and celebrated through the whole process.
