Today I am sharing a sweet, sweet newborn shoot with you… featuring twins! These beautiful little babes are children to Sara Edwards who is in fact, the sister to Nashville newborn photographer, Jenna Henderson! You can see from the photos just how tiny Austin + Peyton were when they were born. These precious little ones are adorable in their muslin swaddles and oh so sweet onesies. Tell us about your new babies!
Sara: We have 3 month old boy/girl twins- Austin & Peyton. Austin is cool, calm, collected, and Peyton is feisty and opinionated.
How was your pregnancy?
Sara: I had a fantastic twin pregnancy. I did not have any sickness, no food aversions, and I exercised up until I was 33 weeks. I gained 25 lbs. and fortunately, I had no problems at that point.
Tell us about the Austin + Peyton’s birth!
Sara: At 33 weeks 4 days I started going in to labor. I was admitted to the hospital to monitor contractions, both babies heart rates, and to stop labor. I was given a shot to stop the contractions which did not work. After that I was put on a magnesium drip for 24hours, I got one steroid shot to boost the development of the babies lungs in the case that I did have them early. 24 hours later I was given a second steroid shot. After that, contractions let up and I was released to go home. Four days later, at 34 weeks 1 day, I went back in to labor. This time, I went straight to the OR for a c-section. Peyton weighed 4 lbs. and Austin weighed 4.5 lbs. and they spent two weeks in the NICU.
How have you been doing since the twins came into your life?
Sara: We have been doing great. We live away from both of our families, so we’ve learned to become very independent parents. We are strict with a routine which helps tremendously. We have a schedule and we do not deviate! I am breastfeeding and I will keep that up as long as I can.
Did you have a vision for the newborn session?
Sara: My sister, Jenna Henderson, has been a professional photographer since I was 15 years old. To be honest, I never have had to put much thought in to our photography sessions because I know she’ll hit the mark every time! We knew we wanted our 4 year old chocolate lab in some of the pictures, but other than that I put all my trust in her, stayed out of her way, and I have great newborn pictures.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Sara: Easy! Even though I let her lead the way through the sessions she is always great to communicate with me to make sure I am satisfied with what she’s shot.
