Tell us about Archer Physical Therapy! How long have you been in business?

Jenny: Hi! Archer Physical Therapy is a concierge pelvic health physical therapy practice serving Nashville and the greater Nashville area. I opened this practice after the birth of my second child in the summer of 2019 when I saw a need for in-home pelvic health care during pregnancy and postpartum. I knew the importance of PT to prepare me for labor and help me recover postpartum but with a toddler and scheduling it was almost impossible to get there. I talked with so many other moms who felt the same way. During my maternity leave I became inspired to open Archer Physical Therapy to provide Nashville moms with an at home option to pelvic health. I treat all pelvic health concerns including urinary leakage, pelvic pain, pregnancy pain, labor preparation, pubic symphysis dysfunction, constipation, low back, hip, and abdominal pain, diastasis recti (abdominal separation), and scar care for perineal and abdominal scars. I spend extra time with each patient giving them a detailed plan that is exclusive for them.

What made you want to work with parents/families/kids/babies?

Jenny: I love working with the pregnant and newly postpartum mother. I feel that so much focus is given to the baby during this season of life and it is such an honor to be the one to focus primarily on how mom is dealing with these physical changes. In supporting mom have a healthy, pain- free pregnancy, feel empowered with her delivery and knowledgeable about recovery I feel like I’m supporting families get off to a great start. Women get told too often that treatable pain, leakage, or discomfort is just part of being a mom. I want to help other moms know that there are options and you can truly live your best life during these years.

What is the philosophy behind Archer Physical Therapy?

Jenny: Helping mothers feel empowered for pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum empowers women for life.

What are your strengths compared to others in your category?

Jenny: Archer Physical Therapy focuses on the pregnant and newly postpartum mom. Over my almost 10 years of practicing physical therapy I have put together the best evidence-based treatment techniques to help my patients recover faster. I work hard to give my patients the tools to treat themselves so they need PT less and less and don’t feel like they have to rely on me to do the things they love. I have a strong manual based background and help patients feel better faster before getting them on an extensive exercise program straight away like some other physical therapy practices.

What attracts parents to work with you?

Jenny: Parents seek me out primarily because I’m able to come to their home for treatment saving them hours of travel time or worry about getting their newborn or other children out in a busy clinic. I get the most calls for pain during pregnancy and for push practice for labor. I’m a mother of two myself and have treated my patients while helping to entertain, sing to, play with their children. It makes my job a ton of fun and puts my patients at ease that they can have their children nearby during the sessions.

What are some cool new and innovative trends you’ve seen in your area of expertise?

Jenny: My favorite new trend in pelvic health is our role as a PT in teaching patients the best way to push during labor. I love having a session with my patients toward the end to go over breathing and pushing strategies. The look on their face when their body tunes in and “gets it” is what I live for. I allow partners to be included in my birth prep sessions and teach them easy and effective ways to support their partner’s breathing or pushing strategy which empowers them to feel like they have an important role and feel ready to help. I’ve had first time moms and mothers of up to 4 children tell me that the push practice was essential for feeling in control and making their pushing more efficient. I’m excited that the PT world is getting in on the magic of labor.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your business?

Jenny: I have night and weekend appointments available for my established patients for emergencies. If you’ve ever stepped wrong or experienced excruciating back pain at 5pm after your PT is closed you know how valuable this can be!
