Huey Cakes first birthday cake

Shades of Blue 1st Birthday Celebration

Titan colors were in full effect in Wilder’s shades of blue first birthday celebration! Mom Mary Lynn put together a weekend long party to honor her little boy, including a plethora of balloons, a scrumptious smash cake, and games and a bounce house for outdoor entertainment. And while it may have been an intimate shindig, it sure looked like A LOT of fun!! Enjoy scrolling through the special day below!

Tell us all about the planning for Wilder’s birthday party!

Mary Lynn: Wilder’s birthday was in May so the planning was pretty last minute because of COVID/quarantine. We decided to have our immediate family over on Saturday and a handful of our closest friends over Sunday. I actually ended up loving that. The grandparents and aunts were able to get some really good quality time with the birthday boy. I knew Audrey, Balloon Babe, from high school and reached out to her about doing a balloon arch. I had used Emily, Huey Cakes, before and knew I wanted to work with her again. I found a cute, fun, boyish birthday invitation from Paperless Post and went with it. Huey Cakes did her own thing with the cake/cookies. I told Audrey to just do light blue/blue/white balloons. I loved the little mailbox balloon arch. The weather was great so we hung out outside both days. Saturday we cooked out with family and played cornhole. Sunday we blew up our little bounce house for the kids and they played on the play set in the backyard.

Did you do a cake smash? What was the cake flavor and what did Wilder do when you presented him with the cake?

Mary Lynn: We chose to just do a smash cake for both parties. We had cookies for family and a larger cake for our friend party Sunday. The cakes were birthday cake/funfetti. Wilder really went for it with his smash cake and probably would’ve eaten the whole thing if we let him!

So sweet! Happy belated birthday, Wilder!!
