An abundance of adorable photos are about to come your way! When The Kim Family’s greenhouse session by Fields & Freckles came across our desks, we were instantly obsessed. With the pandemic interrupting their original plans of a newborn session, Jin and Steve decided on an outdoor family photo shoot with the charming East Nashville Greenhouse to set the scene. Baby Hugh posed with cuteness and curiosity with fur-baby Ollie following suit. There’s so much love jumping through that we’re so excited for you to see it for yourselves. Tell us all about your family!
Jin: Parent’s names are Steve and Jin Kim. Our 6 month old baby is named Hugh and our long-haired dachshund is named Ollie. We’ve been living in Nashville for about 2.5 years now. Steve is in his last year at Vanderbilt Law school and Jin works as an Art Director at a branding agency in town.
Why did you decide to do the shoot now?
Jin: We initially planned on doing a newborn shoot, but with COVID and all the uncertainties with everything, we decided to wait for the weather to cool down and when baby Hugh was old enough to sit up so we could do an outdoor shoot. It worked out perfectly for us and we were so glad we waited.
What was the concept for your shoot? What was your vision?
Jin: I stumbled upon this greenhouse in East Nashville instagram account and I immediately fell in love with it. I didn’t really have a precise vision for the shoot – I knew the location was pretty enough to make the photos look unique and beautiful in itself. I trusted Katie to use her skills and knowledge to direct us on the shoot.
How did your kids react during the photo shoot?
Jin: Hugh was very curious and very calm. He is typically a calm baby so I wasn’t surprised by his reaction!
Were there any challenges along the way?
Jin: Nope! Everything went very smoothly.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Jin: Katie is such a joy to work with! Not only is she accommodating and easy to communicate with, she’s very receptive to any ideas or concerns that you have and will always listen and give her best suggestions. I also very much appreciate her eye for catching the little details and special moments.
